Emergency Vet Care in New Bern, NC
IF YOUR PET IS ACTIVELY EXPERIENCING AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL US IMMEDIATELY AT (252) 649-3649 – OUR PHONES ARE ANSWERED 24/7.
Accidents don’t always happen during “business hours.” When your pet is sick or injured, we’re here to help you get the care they need—even after hours.
When possible, it is best to call prior to arrival so that a team member can advise you on your emergency and triage your pet accordingly.

Please note that at 9:00 PM each day our front doors will automatically lock for security purposes. Ring the front doorbell when you arrive, and a team member will come to the door to assist you.
WE ARE CLOSED FOR INTAKE ON MONDAYS — Hospitalized pets may remain in our 24-hour care
OPEN 24 HOURS starting at 7:00am every Tuesday, until 7:00am the following Monday
If your pet is experiencing an emergency while we are closed, please contact The Emergency Pet Hospital of Craven-Cartaret, 1301A E Main St, Havelock, NC 28532, Phone: (252) 444-1399 or Swansboro Animal Hospital Emergency and Trauma Center, 130 Phillips Loops Rd, Swansboro, NC 28584, Phone: (910) 839-5934
PETS WILL BE TRIAGED ACCORDING TO THE SEVERITY OF THEIR CONDITION.
All patients experiencing critical, life-threatening situations will be a top priority.
Due to the unpredictability and severity of patient situations, long wait times are sometimes experienced. All patients are assessed immediately and triaged according to the severity of their issue. Patients with the most serious problems are seen first. Patients with less serious problems will be attended to as soon as possible (similar to emergency room protocol in human hospitals).
If your wait time is long, or other pets are getting seen before yours, please be grateful that your pet’s condition requires less urgency. You’re probably having a much better day than the person next to you! Depending on your pet’s condition, we may even be able to offer you an appointment time during our regular hours the following day—saving you time, and money.
When to Bring Your Pet to the Emergency Vet
Emergency situations are not always obvious. If your pet experiences any of these symptoms, seek out emergency vet care immediately.

Any significant behavioral change in your pet warrants a trip to the veterinarian. If ever your pet is acting out of sorts, please contact us at (252) 649-3649. We’ll be able to assess your pet’s situation over the phone and give you direction on whether you should come in immediately, or if we can schedule an appointment to see you during our regular primary care hours.
