What is laser therapy for pets?

Laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate skin and tissue, delivering targeted energy that is absorbed by cells in the body. This increases cellular activity, improving the rate of tissue repair.

No! It is a completely pain-free and non-invasive treatment.

A single laser therapy session for a dog or cat can last anywhere from a few minutes, to a half hour or more. This depends on the size and number of treatment areas, as well as the severity of the condition. Treating a small wound or surgical site will be much quicker than treating arthritis in multiple joints.

For post-op use on a surgical site generally only one session is needed. Most other conditions benefit from having a series treatments administered 2-3 times per week until healed, or on an ongoing basis for managing chronic conditions.

Some pets respond to treatment quicker than others, but this is also dependent on the condition being treated. In many cases, the benefits of pain relief can be immediate. Chronic conditions like arthritis generally require several weeks of treatment at higher frequency to see improvement, before tapering off to a lower frequency of sessions as needed to maintain your pet’s comfort level.
